Just Playing

I have been trying to get a lot of posed shots of my girls lately, I thought it would be fun to get some more candid ones. We were playing in the kitchen, eating, enjoying the sunshine, it was fun. I don't get many shots of Clara anymore these days because she seems to always look like a ragamuffin. That girl loves to play dress up but once she's done, some how she always just ends up in her underwear and I NEVER do her hair anymore so she's not included in these pictures. The last 2 of Kamryn were pretty funny. She is definitely turning more dramatic. I had put something out of her reach I didn't want her to have and she just falls to the ground and lays her head on the floor and cries. She's been doing that a lot lately, I don't know where she learned it from.

I have a bit of an obsession with her feet, mainly because they remind me of my own, short and stubby.

We had a fantastic Easter with our family and I have the best family ever. Not only are they great cooks but they are so loving, supportive, and fun to be around. My kids love all their cousins and even though Clara and Kamryn are much younger than them, they try their best to include them. It's such a wonderful time of year, spring is my absolute favorite season and I'm loving all the beautiful colors and warmer weather... even though my allergies have been killing me. Here's a little bit of our fantastic Easter. My kids wanted to play more than pose so I turned my attention to my cousin's BEAUTIFUL flower arrangements, she's so talented.

I was bound and determined to go out and get some great pictures for Kamryn's first birthday. I had so many ideas in my head, I had already decided where on the wall they were going to go, I was set. Kamryn just woke up from her nap, she was in pretty good spirits so I grabbed Robert and we set out to get her 1 year pictures. I dressed Clara up too just in case. Let's just say Kamryn is soooo over me. She hardly cracks a smile for me anymore unless she is being tickled, and that is really hard to do when you are trying to take pictures. I tried everything to get her to laugh, smile, something.... I got nothing. I quickly learned photographing other people's children seem to be easier since I'm new and my goofiness is new to them. I'm a has been to Kamryn and Clara. I determined to get some better pictures. She really isn't a fan of grass so next try I'm going to avoid it and maybe she'll be a bit more cooperative. I have a couple favorites but out of the 250 pictures I took, these were basically all I got.

Kamryn's birthday was so much fun! I had fun coming up with a theme and coordinating everything with it. I wish I would have gotten a better picture of Kamryn in her shirt, it has a little owl on it too. I tried to do a lot of it myself to save a bit of money but I don't think it helped ;). It was a great party and I'll have some more pictures on our family blog in the next couple days.

Helping Hearts

I don't know if anyone ever wondered where the session for our winner for the Helping Hearts was, well here it is. We were waiting for the weather to get nicer so these little guys wouldn't be miserable in the cold. I love photographing these guys, I've done it several times and each time is always fun. Mom is a photographer too so she knows some tricks to bring and lucky she did or else we might not have gotten much from big brother. It might just be one of my favorite Las Colinas sessions yet.

It's been 2 and a half years since their last little baby and she has grown so much! She's now going to be a big sister. I was so happy to photograph their maternity session again, they are such a wonderful couple and I was able to capture Miss Abby for a whole year, from her still in her mommy's tummy to her first birthday. It was such a joy to get to see her again. She is the sweetest girl I've ever met and instantly became my friend. It is such a joy when the kids warm up to you so fast. And speaking of fast, I haven't photographed a 2 1/2 year old in quite a while, boy are they busy!! We had a lot of fun and she gave me the sweetest hugs and even let me kiss an owie. I can't wait to find out what you guys will be having next. Enjoy your preview.

Kamryn's personality is night and day compared to Clara's personality so far. She's been driving me nuts lately, always wanting to be held, getting hurt feelings over the smallest things, hitting, biting, pulling hair.... it's no fun. So this post is dedicated to the top 10 things we love about Kamryn so I don't go completely crazy.

1. Your chubby little kissable lips
2. The way you say WOOOOW when you see something new
3. Your short lived snuggles
4. Your tickle spot under your chin.
5. How you instantly jump to daddy when he comes in the room
6. Your chushy little body
7. When someone says there gonna getcha you instantly come running to them
8. That you are my identical foot twin (we both have chubby, stubby toes)
9. That you still take 2 relatively longs naps
10. When you are in a good mood, you are so fun to watch and play with

I know there are more reasons but those 10 will do. I love her to pieces and we are all excited for her first birthday party this weekend, she'll be 1 on Tuesday. This was just an impromptu photo shoot while Clara was chalk drawing on the drive way. I plan on having her official 1 year session next week.

Spring Snow

I know winter lasts longer up north, but when you arrive in Utah with 50 degree weather, beautiful blue skies, and a bright sun the last thing you would expect would be for it to snow the next day. Although my whole world is being turned upside down because it just snowed in Texas last weekend. Regardless of the weather, my cousin and her new hubby were beyond cute, so excited to be married and so in love. The weather hardly put a damper on their spirits. It was a fun experience to photograph at the beautiful Salt Lake Temple. It was my first wedding there and had it not been 35 degrees, wet, and snowing I would have been able to take pictures there all day. So maybe it was a good idea the weather was so crummy, they might not have made it to their reception :). I hope you love birds enjoy your preview, welcome to the family Josh!

Blue Bonnet Mini Sessions?

This winter season has lasted forever so I was thrilled when my cousin invited us to go out the Arboretum with her and her kids. It was a beautiful day and the flowers were just gorgeous (this was pre winter weather on the first day of spring). I really can't wait for spring to stick around for a while. Which leads me to my question for all of you out there, would anyone be interested in doing Bluebonnet Mini Session?? There sure to bloom soon and it's a Texas staple so you know I will be out there. Sweet Amielee is the freshest newborn I have photographed, she was hours home from the hospital and only 2 1/2 days old. She had been having a rough morning but it made for a very sleepy afternoon. We could have photographed so much more of her but I didn't have any of my props with me so dad had to hold up the backdrop and between each shot he would fall asleep. So we only took a few shots. She was a dream for each one though. I already miss her so much.

I"m so excited to introduce my newest little niece, Amielee (pronounced Ah-meh-lee). It was such a wonderful experience to see my baby sister having her first baby, what a tender moment. She is such a loved little girl and so beautiful. I traveled to Utah to be a part of this special day and also my cousins wedding so I have a lot of pictures to share.

I finally narrowed down some of my favorites, I had so many to choose from. This wedding was gorgeous, beautiful location, amazing weather, and adorable totally in love couple. I have photographed for members of this family 2 other times and it is so awesome to get to be apart of a family's special moments - 2 weddings and a baby. Clara's Turn

Got some new equipment and used Clara as my subject. Disregard her bed head, I made her take her pjs off moments before this and just ran a brush through her hair and threw in a flower. Gotta love lounging in the pjs all day long. It's difficult these days to get a natural expression, when I say smile, I get that "I'm trying too hard to make you happy" smile which is cute for like one shot. So this was her smile after I told her I was going to tickle her. She's so cute. I can't wait till spring so I can get these girls out of the house for some pictures. I feel so out of practice. I usually have folders full of pictures of my kids but barely have any since last year.

And that is my bed, blue walls, blue sheets - we love blue.

11 Months

This little girl is growing too fast. I can't believe she will be 1 year in a month! She is such a pill but such a joy all at the same time. She's still our chushy girl at a big old 23 lbs! She crawls like a pro, pulls herself up, cruises around the furniture and has even started standing up for several seconds. She has 2 words, "wow" and "uh-oh". She has 4 teeth, 2 top and 2 bottoms. She loves following everyone around and even though Clara bugs her a lot, she likes to play with her and especially squish her and she's definitely a Daddy's girl. We love this girl so much.

It's been a while since i've posted. not much going on for us but I thought today would be a good day to post since we are having such a fantastic snow day. This time K got to take part in the fun. I haven't seen this much snow in Texas in forever if at all. We never got to play in snow like this as a kid!! Clara loves it. It took her a while to warm up to the idea since she just woke up. I waited patiently and she finally wanted to go build a snowman and snowballs. K didn't stay out too long especially once her glove fell off and she realized that this stuff wasn't so cool. So she played inside while clara and I built a Clara snowman. She didn't last till the end, once she saw we had M&Ms she decided she would rather eat them then play, so she went back outside. I had to take the candy away to get her to come outside to take a pic, that's why she doesn't look very happy for me.

This is the smallest newborn I have ever met or maybe even held but to my utter surprise and delight he was the best newborn I have photographed ever, he was only 4 1/2 pounds. Mom made sure his tummy was nice and full before I got there and unfortunately had a rough night before hand but all this equaled the sleepiest baby ever. He was just so sweet and made the sweetest little coos and squeaks. I had so much fun posing him and listening to mom and grandma just giggle over how adorable he was. It made me happy. You might even recognize mom and dad, I photographed their wedding last year. It's was such a treat to be a part of two majorly important events in their lives.

I don't watch the news much, I guess that goes along with having two small children, but it's hard to not hear about something so devastating, heart breaking, and life changing for so many people. I am so glad I frequent this blog. Once I found out what she was doing to help the people in Haiti, I had to join. It's impossible for most of us to go there, to lend a hand, but I hear a lot about how much the Red Cross needs support and money. So here's the deal:

You and your family could win a photo session to be held at Grapevine Main Street or Las Colinas!

This session will be photographed by myself and will be held in the early evening of Friday, February 4th.
Session is for up to 5 immediate family members and will last between 1-2 hours. This can be for the whole family, just the kids, or you and your sweetheart. (No newborns or babies under 6 months please.)
Winner will also receive 25 fully processed, high resolution images on CD. Print to your heart’s content!

How to win:

Make a MINIMUM donation of $10 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund.

The weather has been unseasonably warm lately and I realized Clara hasn't let me take many pictures of her lately so while Miss K was napping, Clara and I went outside to take some pictures. I love this girl, she is just so fun, sweet, lovable, and beautiful. I really like how she doesn't mind taking pictures anymore, she still doesn't like looking at the camera, I have to be really quick, but she does hold still at least. These are probably some of my favorite pictures of her yet, she is just so sweet.

This one is my absolute favorite, I'll definitely be finding a place to hang this big.

This little guy was so sweet and so tiny and so perfect. It's not hard to believe though, his mom is beautiful! He wasn't as feisty as most little newborns so I had an easier time posing him. Though no newborn would be considered "easy". It was such a treat getting to capture the maternity and the newborn.

Just wanted to post a project I've been working on, silhouettes of my cute little girls. I've been wanting to do these for a while but just never got around to it. Things have slowed down so I have had some extra time to work on personal stuff. A friend of my SIL gave them to her and I was jealous so I decided to finally make some. Kamryn's is my favorite, it really captures that fat little lip :) I'll be hanging them up in Clara's room next to their blessing dresses.

It's rare for us to get snow in Texas, it's really rare for us to get it twice in a week. It's been fun! Clara has really enjoyed it. Today we went out to "play" in it. There really wasn't much and it was really slushy, but she didn't mind. Though what do you do when there's not enough to play in? You eat it, right? She kept offering me the snow off her shoes.... no thanks.

Nothing beats a new, squishy newborn. This little angel was 9 lbs at birth! I love all her little rolly polly rolls. She was a good sleeper too... once we got her to go to sleep. It took about 2 hours but worth every minute.

I don't take many maternity pictures but it is such a wonderful opportunity for me to capture the weeks before this new life is born; It's such a miraculous thing. I love these images because to me I see such joy, anticipation, and love in her face. Something that all mother's feel with that tiny baby in their tummies. A good friend of mine snapped a couple family pictures for us for Christmas (editing by me). I really shouldn't have waited so long to do them, Clara looks really cold... because she was! it was 40 degrees and sprinkling on us. She was a trooper though and I am really pleased with how they came out despite the weather. I was waiting till I could lose some weight, bad excuse, but I wanted to feel good about taking pictures before I took them. We will be getting some new family pictures in the spring hopefully by Haylee Bean when we go up to Utah, I am SOO excited about that!! She's one of my favorite photographers.

Sweet K is 8 months today. I can hardly believe how fast she is growing, and boy is she growing! She loves to clap and play patty cake, she will be crawling any day now and I think she will be getting some toothers soon. Such a sweet girl. She was so alert and awake almost the entire time, it took a lot of swaddling, heat, milk, and patience but she finally fell asleep... for about a half hour then she was back to being wide awake. That's ok, because she was so calm awake. I just think she is so perfect!

I haven't shared any pictures of Kamryn and Clara in a while, I've been trying to keep up with all my Christmas sessions! But those are winding down and I have a little extra time to post some of my sweet girls. I'm not sharing many of these because I have to save something for Christmas pictures but I captured these 2 cute pictures when scouting out a location. I brought them ready for pictures just in case and I'm so glad I did. I'm especially glad I took these when my life wasn't so hectic because I just don't see myself getting out to do it again.

This was my last Christmas session and it couldn't have been any cuter. These 2 girls are just precious. They told me Miss Z was usually really shy around new people but right when I opened the door she gave me the biggest most adorable smile in the world, my heart almost melted. The whole time she was so cooperative, cute and didn't act shy at all. She was so sweet to her new baby sister too! I can hardly believe I had taken Miss Z's newborn pictures almost 2 years ago, time sure does fly by!! Miss A was a doll too! She was so small but had so much life in those deep brown eyes. She even gave me a few coos. I just love little girls so much!

Cheesy I know, but me and Larissa really have been best friends for what seems like forever! We have known each other since 7th grade, survived high school together, college roommates, single to married and 2 adorable sets of kids later. It is so nice to have someone I'm so comfortable with, goofy with, and someone I cherish so much. We've made it through a lot together and it has been so awesome getting to still hang out and be close after 14+ years... wow that's a long time. I look forward to growing old with you as much as I do with Robert. Love you girl!

I love my littlest clients, they are so sweet, fun, and full of energy but it really is refreshing to photograph a family that I don't have to chase after. This family was an awesome family, so fun to photograph and so good looking too! The awesome part about this session is we never had to leave their neighborhood for any of these pictures! It was a photographers dream neighborhood. So much variety and color. When I pulled up to their house and saw this AMAZING tree I knew I had to get some pictures with it. Unfortunately the field was covered with fire ants and stickers but we made it work and I'm so glad we did, the color is amazing! Only 1 more session and then I'm done with all my Christmas sessions, yay!

When Clara saw this sweet girl on the computer she instantly was oohing and aahing at her princess dress. Miss M certainly fits the part, she is so beautiful! She was a bit shy for me and it wasn't easy to catch a smile, but I managed to get one here and there.

I totally under-estimated the energy that boys have especially 5-9 year old boys. These two were such a hoot! I loved watching them play and interact. They reminded me of my husband, weird I know, but from the stories I heard about him and his brothers, I could totally see them being like these 2, it made me laugh. Mom, I hope you enjoy these pictures, they are two handsome boys who definitely kept us busy!

Double Dose

I had the fun of photographing Miss E and Miss D. You might recognize big sister, I took her pictures about a year ago and now she has a beautiful new sister! Her hair was shorter then, she grows it out every other year and then donates it to Locks of Love, how awesome is that!!

They are both such gorgeous girls and were so much fun to photograph, especially together. I loved how big sis was so nurturing and loving, the bond of sisters is so strong!

Kamryn is 7 months today and has FINALLY learned to roll over. She did it for the first time a couple days ago, now I can't get to stop rolling! She hasn't figured out how to get back to her back so she gets frustrated and starts crying, but it's cute :)

If you listen carefully to the first few seconds, you can hear Clara singing to her Barbie moving in the background, something I've been trying to capture for a while but she runs away every time she sees me with the camera.

Here are some images from my very first mini session, what a fun time!!! I really loved doing them and will definitely be doing them again. Each family was so fun and different and definitely kept me on my toes, especially these first 2 boys! I will have the Las Colinas ones posted soon, so many favorites from that session too!!

These 3 kids are the most well behaved kids I've ever met, they were such a pleasure to photograph!

Beauty and the Mouse

I finally got the girl's Halloween costumes together! My mom made sweet K's Minnie Mouse dress, I love it!! Clara loves being a princess and now she has the crown to prove it. She has wanted to be Sleeping Beauty since day one. It's her favorite movie and she knows all the words to all the songs, impressive huh?? Love these girls!!

I think this has to be my favorite wedding to date. I don't know what it was about it, maybe the combination of things, but the weather was perfect (maybe a tad cold), the couple was perfect, the colors were perfect, it was just an amazing wedding. They were married at the LDS temple and most of these pictures were either there, or at the home/reception location. These 2 were so easy to work with and made taking pictures so easy for me. There happiness, contentment, and love for each other are so natural and real that it really shows in these pictures. I have so many to share, I hope you enjoy your preview! Thanks for letting me capture this amazing day.

Do I ever love Target. I really should stop walking through their kids section, I ALWAYS buy something. I love these dresses so much and thought they would look adorable together. Rainy Wedding

I've had some really great weddings lately that I have a lot of pictures to go through! This bride has waited patiently to see her preview, so here they are Jessica!! The day started really cloudy with no rain, but unfortunately for us it held out until right before the reception. We were supposed to do most of the pictures there because it was really close to a beautiful golf course, but as we were setting up the big group shot it started pouring on us!! Unfortunately we didn't get a lot of pictures outside, but I still think they turned out great. What a fun group of people too!

Well, Robert went back to work today so I think that means he is better. Thankfully non of us are sick and hopefully it will stay that way. Thanks for all the prayers on our behalf, I really think they have helped keep us going. And thanks to my wonderful mom for the yummy soup, it was nice to get a break. We are still being extra cautious and still not getting to close to him. Clara really misses him and Kamryn looks at him with a "what's going on, why can't you help me?" look. I'm hoping tomorrow we will be back to normal. Here's hoping! And what is a post without a picture of my most willing and adorable model.

I am finally getting around to posting this sweet little guy. Robert has the swine flu so I have been pulling single mom while he is quarantined to the bedroom. It has not been an easy 4 days. I hope the rest of us don't get it. This was a great session. I was kind of nervous at first, mr. H was not showing any signs of sleeping. But after a quick fill up, a warm space, and a rocking, he finally hit the hay and let us do anything to him, it was great! My absolute favorite is this first one. How cute is that little pinky? He looks like he is getting ready for tea with the queen :) I also love the ones with his daddy's hands. He looks so warm and safe. Thanks for your patience and congrats on your new bundle!

What a fun session this was! Miss E. was full of fun, sass, and personality. She was a handful to work with but every image was adorable, it was hard to pick favorites. She made the silliest faces out of now where and her smiles were full of cheese! It was great. Mom did great with her outfit. You just might see miss Clara in something similar soon! K had her 6 month check up yesterday and here are her stats:
length: 28 inches, 97th percentile
weight: 18.6 pounds 90th percentile

She's definitely our little chubs!

My wonderful friend Kristal, who just had her sweet baby a couple days ago, made K this quilt. I have been wanting to photograph her with it for a while and today was the perfect day! Isn't that quilt beautiful??

I have so many photographs to proof right now, I just had a take a quick moment to share this sweet little guy (many more to come). Sometimes it's easy to rush through this life, hardly reflecting, but as I look back to just 6 short months ago when sweet little K was this size, it makes me realize how precious these moments are, they are only this little once. It's such a miracle to witness their growth in the this world. It's so easy for one little thing to go wrong but what a miracle it is for everything to go right.

Wow, have I been lucky lately, 2 days in a row of sweet Clara letting me take her pictures and willingly!! I'm so glad, I love our over grown backyard right now and I know it needs mowed soon, I'll be sad to see it go. We have also had some beautiful morning glories grace our fence and Clara has learned to climb the fence. I better keep a closer eye on her now :)

More of Mr. O and his adorable siblings, I love these guys so much. Can you believe that the last 2 are less than a year apart?? They are going to be the best of friends, I loved having my sisters so close in age to me. And I'm so excited, we got new couches! I love them! We haven't owned a new couch ever so this is a fun milestone for our family. Hope they last with my two tornadoes!

Last weekend was a busy one, I had a wedding, a newborn, and a bridal session all while trying to potty train Clara!! All were thankfully a success! This little princess was a handful, so darling, but did not want to sleep for us. When she did sleep she did not want to be disturbed!! Surprisingly I captured quite a few that I love.

I know I post a lot of Clara and you probably think I'm nuts when I say that she hates the camera, I really do get lucky a lot. I have almost given up photographing her because any time I get the camera out, even if I'm just taking pictures of Kamryn, she literally runs away to hide in her bed. Today was a good day. Kamryn has been propping herself on her elbows really good so I wanted to get some pictures of her, I guess Clara got jealous because she wanted her pictures taken too. I was very careful this time to not frighten her so I gently asked if she wanted to put on a dress (she was wearing knee highs, shoes, and a diaper, that's all) she agreed. I picked one out and with only a little protest got her to put it on. I slowly did her hair, grabbed my camera then let her bring what ever she wanted and told her gummy bears would be waiting for her if she looked at the camera. Magic! Now they aren't the best photographs of her I have ever taken, I had to crop out her toys, but they are fun and special memories to me and the whole reason why I even started taking pictures. I love this sweet little 3 year old.

I also want to do better documenting the cute things she says, so I figure this is a good time to start.
She calls a forehead a two-head and tomorrow four-morrow.

She loves old McDonald so she requested I sing it. I let her pick what she wants old McDonald to have on the farm, she picked Clara - so Old McDonald had a Clara who went agggggg (as gergally as you can, that is the noise she makes for Kamryn) Next, Old McDonald had a Kamryn who blew raspberries (sorry, i don't know how to spell raspberry noises, just use your imagination). Finally, old McDonald had a Mommy and what did mommy say?? Mooooo..... thanks Clara.....

Any time Kamryn drolls, she says "Kamryn, that's gross!"

Clara was hungry one night, mostly trying to avoid going to bed. We were standing at the cupboard and she was trying to decide what she wanted. She picked eyes crispies aka rice crispies, I told her no because they were too messy... we stare at each other for a while and she says "Now what?"

When we put her to bed at night - Me: "Good night princess Clara."
Clara: "goodnight princess mommy, good night prince daddy" (it used to be princess daddy, it took us some time to fix that)

Other funny phrases:
"Yes you do!"
"Whachout there's a bug!! Just kidding"
"Who's in the phone?"
"my do it myself"
"Hold still, just a minute" (when she's "cutting" my hair)
"Mommy, I'm a princess! are you a princess?"
"Gowwey" (golly)
"DANG IT!"
"what's so funny?"
"whoa, that was close!"

and to top it all off, Clara only speaks in third person, "Clara needs to go home, Clara needs mommy hugs, Clara needs chocolate milk" She's a funny girl. I'll try to add more as they come though it is more funny in person.

and one from tonight,

Me: Clara, lets go to the kitchen to get you some milk.
Clara: Mommy, you want some milk?
Me: no thank you
Clara: Mommy you want some water? Orange juice? Chocolate milk? Mommy, what do you want?? (said in the tone that I use when I'm getting frustrated with her)
I guess i need to watch how i say things.

...that one word sums up this little guy. The pro of photographing at Las Colinas is it's so beautiful and makes for awesome pictures, the con is there's the canals. Little kids love the canals, little kids would love to jump into the canals if they were given the opportunity. This little guy was WAY more interested in trying to jump into the canals than to have his picture taken. He's a cutie though and I'm glad I'm not pregnant anymore or I would never have been able to keep up!

Little girls+etsy+me= no money!! I love finding new treasures on etsy and I'm so glad I have two sweet girls to dress up. At least 1 still lets me take pictures though she has already started to ignore me too. Clara must be having a few chats with her while I'm not looking.
